The Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana UmaraZulum has established a committee to overhaul and upgrade BRTV. This is in the light of the degeneration of the station over the past few years as a result of the recent flood disaster and the challenge of obsolete equipment in the station.
The Secretary to the Borno State Government, Mallam Bukar Tijani, inaugurated the Committee on 22 April 2025 on behalf of the Borno State Government at the Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Musa Usman Secretariat, Maiduguri.
In his inaugural speech, the SSG tasked members of the committee to swing into action and work out modalities that will upgrade the State Television & Radio station to cover wider radius, particularly all the 27 local LGAs and beyond with a view to enhancing information dissemination, to reach all nooks and crannies of the state.
The SSG further urged the committee members to recommend digital and state-of-the-art transmission capacity that will stand the test of time.
Responding on behalf of the Committee, the Chairman, who is also the Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, who was represented by Alhaji Aminu Chamalwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, assured that the Committee will live up to expectations and thanked the SSG for the confidence reposed on them.
The terms of Reference of the Committee include: -To conduct a needs assessment of the logistics, manpower and technical/technological requirements of the BRTV.To recommend ways of enhancing the efficiency of BRTV in terms of operation and coverage of the 27 LGAs.
