 Unseen Struggle Of Students Life In University Of Maiduguri

When individual or people talk about university life,they just imagine lectures hall buzzing with curiosity, campus events,and students passionately chasing their dreams or career.But to underneath this surface, students at the university of Maiduguri ( unimaid) face a reality that is far beyond or more complex , demanding and often unseen.

For some many students that are far and near simply gaining admission is a victory. But the main or real challenges is begins after arrival in the school. in a region that endured insecurity, economic hardship and also limited to infrastructure, students are not studying for decree alone but they are surviving of the ratio of the probabilities of event happening to that of it not happening.

            Financial Struggles

Financial instability is a daily battle for so many students in UNIMAID, some of the students from a low income families who barely eat three -times Square meals, sometimes students go to lectures with empty stomach without eating. while some just drink water and hope that the hunger doesn't district them too much,not even to talk about buying note books, transport or even tuition. some students end up in doing negative activities in school inorder to support themselves.

               Suffering in Silence

The pressure of academic expectations, coupled with personal and financial stress, can take a heavy toll in student life.there are some students sometimes feels like giving up, but sometimes who do you tell? because people will say that you are weak and unserious. many students suffer in silence and carry the heavy load alone. Mental health remain one of the least issues among students.

University life is filled with assignments, tests, and tight deadlines. But when these are compounded by unreliable electricity, poor internet access, and limited study spaces, students must work hard to keep up. I do my assignments using my phone torch when there's no light, but sometimes there is light and phone but no data.it is an academic pressure. 

Despite all this, students at the University of Maiduguri continue to push forward. They study under streetlights, share what little they have, form support systems, and dream big. They are determined to build a better life ,not just for themselves, but for their families and communities.It’s a remarkable that behind every exam result, behind every graduation photo, there’s a story of survival, sacrifice, and incredible strength by every student wether in unimaid or other universities.

Anytime you hear someone say university life is easy or simple think about the students at UNIMAID , the weather, sandstorm e .t.c. Their journey is not just about getting a degree. It’s about perseverance, quiet fight to succeed and hope.
