Fire outbreak devastated the shop of popular TikTok influencer Rahama Saidu, located on UDB Road in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State. The incident occurred on Thursday, causing significant damage to her property.
The fire incident occurred shortly after officials from the Kano Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA) demolished part of Rahama's shop, citing illegal extensions onto public space.

While the cause of the fire remains unconfirmed, it follows escalating tensions between Rahama and KNUPDA, which had previously removed her business signboard for alleged encroachments. In response to these actions, Rahama filed a formal complaint with the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Rahama's petition to the anti-graft agency led to the summoning of officials from the Kano Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA), which sparked intensified enforcement actions in the Tarauni area.
Her shop was targeted for demolition due to claims that it encroached on public pathways. This incident has elicited mixed reactions online, with some users accusing the authorities of harassment while others emphasize the need for urban planning enforcement.
As of now, there have been no reported injuries, and officials have not yet issued a comprehensive statement regarding the fire.

ReplyDeleteThis is truly heartbreaking for Rahama Saidu and her business. Losing a shop to a fire after facing demolition is devastating, especially when livelihoods are at stake. While urban planning laws are important, authorities should handle such cases with transparency and fairness. I hope there’s a thorough investigation into the fire and that Rahama receives the support she needs to recover. This also highlights the struggles small business owners face with regulatory enforcement.
